Amenities at Mangel Halto Beach

Mangel Halto is a quiet, secluded beach, so amenities are minimal. While you won’t find any facilities here, there are a few permanent palapas and mangrove trees that provide natural shade. It’s a great spot for those who want an uncrowded beach day.

Just keep in mind that no restrooms or changing facilities are available, and there are no rentals or shops on-site. You’ll need to bring everything with you, including food, drinks, and snorkeling gear.

When to Go to Mangel Halto

The best time to visit Mangel Halto is in the morning, before the sun reaches its peak and crowds start to trickle in. Arriving between 8-10am guarantees you a shady spot under one of the mangrove trees or palapas. Another excellent time is late afternoon to catch the sunset over the water. It’s a beautiful, quiet alternative to more crowded sunset spots in Aruba.

Keep in mind, the sun is extremely strong at midday, and the shade is limited. Plan to bring sun protection like reef-safe sunscreen or a rash guard (women and men).

What to Pack for Mangel Halto

Because amenities are limited, you’ll want to come prepared. Here’s a basic list of essentials to bring to Mangel Halto:

  • Snorkel gear: Mangel Halto is one of the best snorkeling spots in Aruba, with calm, shallow waters and a reef just offshore. Bring your own equipment, as there are no rentals on the beach.
  • Water shoes: The beach can be rocky, especially near the mangroves and as you enter the water. Protect your feet from sharp coral and rocks.
  • Reef-safe sunscreen: Shade is limited, and you’ll want to protect both your skin and the underwater environment.
  • Snacks and drinks: There are limited food vendors nearby, so pack plenty of water and snacks to stay refreshed.
  • Beach towels and chairs: While there are a few shaded areas, seating is not provided. Bring your own beach towels or chairs for comfort.
  • Underwater camera: If you’re snorkeling, an underwater camera (like a GoPro) is a great way to capture photos of the beautiful coral reef and marine life.
  • Rash guard: A rash guard will protect your back while snorkeling, as it’s often exposed to direct sunlight. Here are my favorite options for women and men.

Pro Tip: Leave valuables at home. If you need to bring anything important, consider a waterproof lockbox or dry bag to keep items secure while you enjoy the water.
