About Renaissance Island

Renaissance Island in Aruba is a private paradise that is home to flamingos and a perfect way to escape the more crowded beaches on the island. It is exclusively accessible to guests of the Renaissance Wind Creek Aruba Resort & Casino and those that have day pass access.

The most popular attraction on the island is Flamingo Beach, an adults-only beach which offers a a place to relax and interact with the island’s famous flamingos. On the other side of the island is Iguana Beach, which caters to families with shallow waters and a variety of water activities. There’s a reason it’s one of the best day trips in Aruba.

Visiting Renaissance Island with Kids

As mentioned above, Renaissance Island is divided into two sections: Flamingo Beach (adults-only) and Iguana Beach (family-friendly). Here’s how it works for families:

  • Flamingo Beach: Kids are allowed from 9:00 to 10:00 am daily.
  • Iguana Beach: Open to families all day but does not typically have flamingos.

If you’re traveling with children and want to see flamingos, plan your visit early in the morning to make the most of the designated hour. Alternatively, consider visiting De Palm Island, which offers more activities for kids and also features flamingos.

How to Get a Day Pass to Renaissance Island

Day passes to Renaissance Island are in high demand and are only available for purchase online through the Renaissance Hotel’s official website. If seeing the famous flamingos of Renaissance Island is on your Aruba bucket list, here’s how it works:

  1. Day passes go on sale every Saturday at 9:00 am for the upcoming week (Monday through Sunday).
  1. Be online and ready before 9:00 am on Saturday to snag your tickets, as passes are limited and sell out quickly. It’s a good idea to set an alarm to ensure you don’t miss the opportunity.

If you are unable to buy one of the coveted day passes, you’ll have to look into alternate ways to get to Renaissance Island. We’ll give you some ideas below.

Things to Know about Renaissance Island Day Passes

In addition to the prompt need to buy Renaissance Island tickets, there’s a few other facts that may weigh into your want or ability to buy the passes.

  • The hotel only releases day passes to Flamingo Beach on Renaissance Island if their occupancy is below 80%. Even then, only 20–30 passes are typically made available each day.
  • You can buy up to 5 passes per transaction. If you need more, have someone else ready to purchase additional passes simultaneously at 9:00 am on Saturday morning.
  • The cost of a day pass to Renaissance Island is $130 + tax per adult, $62.50 per child aged 6–12, and free for children 5 and under. Prices are subject to change, so always check the official website for the latest rates.

Pro Tip: If you’re traveling with multiple people, consider booking a night at the Renaissance Wind Creek Aruba Resort instead. Guests enjoy free and unlimited access to Renaissance Island during their stay. This route could end up saving you money.

What’s Included with a Day Pass

A day pass to Renaissance Island provides more than just access to Flamingo Beach. You’ll have access to a water taxi from the Renaissance Hotel to the island, running every 15 minutes from 7:00 am to 6:45 pm. Upon arrival, you’ll find towels, floats, and snorkeling gear provided.

Each adult pass also includes a $25 food and beverage credit redeemable at the island’s restaurants and bars: Papagayo Bar & Grill and the Mangrove Beach Bar.

Alternate Ways to Access Renaissance Island

If you’re unable to secure a day pass to Flamingo Beach and Renaissance Island, don’t worry—there are other ways to experience it.

Option 1: Book a Room at the Renaissance Wind Creek Aruba Resort

Staying at the Renaissance Wind Creek Aruba Resort guarantees free access to Renaissance Island. Guests can visit as many times as they like during their stay, including on check-in and check-out days. For couples or families, this option may be more economical than purchasing multiple day passes.

Option 2: Book a Massage at Island Spa Cove

Another way to gain access is by booking a massage at Island Spa Cove on Renaissance Island. Unfortunately, you’ll need to secure your appointment well in advance, as spa slots fill up quickly. But, with a massage booking, you can enjoy access to the island before and/or after your treatment.

Prices start at $160 per person or $295 for a couples’ package. Non-hotel guests are subject to an additional $25 fee per person.

Pro Tip: Make sure you are booking at Island Spa Cove with the Renaissance Okeanos Spa as otherwise you may be booking a massage on the mainland and not get to visit Renaissance Island or Flamingo Beach!

Option 3: Join “Dinner Under the Stars”

Every Wednesday, Renaissance Island hosts “Dinner Under the Stars,” a unique 4-course dining experience. While this option does not allow for a full day on Renaissance Island, you can enjoy the evening ambiance and possibly spot the flamingos.

This option is a bit cheaper at $90 per adult and $40 per child (ages 5–12). A 17% service charge applies.

Alternatives to Renaissance Island and Flamingo Beach

If none of the above options allow you to get a Flamingo Beach day pass and you really just want to see flamingos in Aruba, you’re in luck. There is a second place that is home to flamingos: De Palm Island.

De Palm Island is a family-friendly alternative that includes flamingos, water slides, snorkeling, and other activities. Day passes to De Palm Island are generally easier to obtain than those for Renaissance Island. You can purchase them ahead online with either transportation included or without transportation.
